TEACHING THE PARTS OF FLOWER USING ICT INTEGRATION
Teaching science is fun when we really integrate ICT in the learning process. Teaching Science on 4th period to class V students about the parts of flower on 4th October was one of the interesting topic where students came up with web links for them to show what they had learned or felt interesting about the topic.
On 3rd October, students were briefed about finding the information from the you tube in their house as a home work. They were briefed how to find the best resources from the you tube and watch the information. If they think the video is informative then they write the correct web address to use it on 4th October.
On 4th October, I prepared the classroom with the laptop and the projector. The students were seated and the web address were collected from them. Then I used my Laptop and the projector to show their best video on parts of the flower. Here, students tell their web link where I find it on my laptop and project the video to them. During the presentation, some students told what they have learned and the presentation became more meaningful.
Findings: Though the hands on practice using ICT have helped them but still few of the students could not watch the you-tube because they could not manage the mobile phone to watch. But were made available to those missed ones by doing the presentation in the class. The time was not enough to show all the web links submitted by students.
Over all the teaching became much easier as those were the activities that they already had the information at home.

All the humans are NOT same and your children did so. The things that we need is resources and your children could not manage to get mobile phone where they can look for YouTube. Anyway you used good idea by asking them to note web address. It's good that if we can send homework like you did so that children can engage in learning.

ReplyDeleteYour integration of ICT tool such as web link was in line with new science syllabus, if we look at the science text books of class IV to VI...we 'll come across many web link to further clarify in detail about topic. So you did great work....however you being in rural school all the children didn't have smart phones and some of them got deprived but you tried to link the web and provided equal access to all...that is great work.
