 Reflection on Integration of ICT in teaching Learning Process.


 This is my sixth reflection on the integration of ICT in teaching learning process. I taught to twelve students of class  six  on the topic solar system. Teaching on Solar Eclipse was a difficult one but the teaching but i did it with the help of ICT integration.


After having idea on how to find information from google search and You-tube by students, its now easy to give the concept of Solar Eclipse. As a home work, the students were asked to read the topic Solar Eclipse as their home work and  on this topic, they were asked to browse the information as well. They were also asked to find the best link they found was informative to their level and bring it to the next session. I too prepared a simple power point presentation on how Solar Eclipse occur as a additional information to them.




On 18th of October, the the class started with the collection of web link and the sharing of some information they got from the book as well as from the google. When I collected the web link I found out that there were only three different web links because they brought their best web which came to be same for all. I showed the clips on solar Eclipse to them and then did  my power point presentation to ad more information. 
 

 In the activity part, students were made to show and identify Umbra and Penumbra using the diagram of Solar Eclipse. That was the activity where students could do it easily after having got the information from web as well as  from my presentation.But in the future I need to take care with the place for doing my presentation. I need to find a place or make the classroom little dark because it was difficult to see some of the images on the screen. i also need to take or fix a sound system because it wasn't enough to be heard loudly and clearly.
so, teaching Science using ICT integration has a greater impact to both the students and the teachers.

ICT INTEGRATION IN TEACHING LERNING PROCESS FOR THE 1ST ROUND OF OCTOBER


TEACHING THE PARTS OF FLOWER USING ICT INTEGRATION

Teaching science is fun when we really integrate ICT in the learning process. Teaching Science on  4th period to class V students about the parts of flower on 4th October was one of the interesting topic where students came up with web links for them to show what they had learned or felt interesting about the topic.


On 3rd October, students were briefed about finding the information from the you tube in their house as a home work. They were briefed how to find the best resources from the you tube and watch the information. If they think the  video is informative then they write the correct web address to use it on 4th October.


On 4th October, I prepared the classroom with the laptop and the projector. The students were seated and the web address were collected from them. Then I used my Laptop and the projector to show their best video on parts of the flower. Here, students tell their web link where I find it on my laptop and project the video to them. During the presentation, some students told what they have learned and the presentation became more meaningful.


 Findings: Though the hands on practice using ICT have helped them but still few of the students could not watch the you-tube because they could not manage the mobile phone to watch. But were made available to those missed ones by doing the presentation in the class. The time was not enough to show all the web links submitted by students.  
Over all the teaching became much easier as those were the activities that they already had the information at home.

SEED DISPERSAL- Power Point Presentation


               My second round of Teaching using ICT took on 17th September, 2019 to class six students. And this is my fourth session where i am uploading my reflection on my teaching using ICT.Teaching Science with ICT has got the most advantages to the students as well as to the teachers.


 Science is the subject of wonders where sometimes our assumption becomes the solution. That assumption has happened when there are no concrete ideas to show or look at it. But now it isn't because of ICT in the classroom.

  Seed dispersal for class six students were taught to them using power point presentation  and  a short clip was downloaded for them to show. In the session many of the methods of seed dispersal were known to them but the idea of seed dispersal by water and seeds with wings were not known to them, so I could convince them with the video that was uploaded.

After doing my presentation using power point about seed dispersal, I took my activity back to the classroom where students were given to do the activities. Work done by the students tells me that teaching is not just to be done with books and the chalkboard but works wonders with using ICT gadgets.

      Though the lesson could flow smoothly but still has some flaws due to different places for the conduct presentation and the activities. With the fixed screen and OHP in the office there are no alternative but to do it. So, while doing this, some minutes are wasted while they move from the presentation room to their class for the conduct of the activity. More over  it was not possible for me to show them once again and that hampers in the revision on while doing the activity.  In general the lesson went well as compared to last year's teaching using the chart paper and the hand made learning materials.

THIRD REFLECTION ON TEACHING SCIENCE THROUGH ICT


Teaching all subject through ICT works better but teaching Science through ICT works in wonder. My third teaching with the help of ICT and first session for the month of September was  conducted on 2nd of September, 2019. I taught class VI on the topic TRANSFER OF POLLEN GRAINS for 50 minutes.
 In this session I developed a video tutorial after having the idea while developing video tutorial using Camtecia. Based on the tutorial developed, I showed them the video for three times and then the activities were carried out. To my surprise I found this lesson very interesting and presentable if there were to observe my lesson.
The lesson could have been much better than the one if there was a speaker to make the voice of my video loud enough.In my next lesson with the integration of ICT, I am planning to develop video tutorial lesson and share to them through Voice chat(Vchat) and ask them to learn for the next lesson.
The lesson will be based on what is in the video tutorial.

FLOW OF BLOOD IN OUR BODY




REFLECTION OF MY 2nd TEACHING SCIENCE USING ICT

 

On 20th August, 2019 in the 2nd period, I taught class VI Science on the topic The flow of Blood in our Body. It was a fifty minutes teaching period where i couldn't feel how the time passed by. The session was taken in the library due to the lack of over head projector in the class. Having only projector fixed in the library made my class to move but it was a wonderful session.


In this session, students were made to watch the animated movies on how blood flow in our body. though we can teach them with out the animated and without the usage of ICT but the fact is students become more eager and grasp the main idea of teaching objectives.


  
While comparing between the outcome of the past and the present, it had a vast difference between the students out put. Students taught through ICT had built a picture in them as we can find out while doing the activity.

In the Activity part, I showed them just the animated pictures and made students to identify the parts which students could do it easily. Naming the parts and their function was my follow up and each child could do it thus making my day's teaching a productive.

The session ended by making Dorji Nidup to tell in gist about the flow of blood along with the animated pictures which was a wonderful.

TEACHING SCIENCE THROUGH ICT IS FUN


ADAPTIVE CHARACTERISTICS OF PLANTS



Teaching science of class VI for the 6th year was more comfortable and a successful one than the past. The way i taught this year was with the help of ICT and helped me a lot.


 

The comparison of learning and students performance in doing the activity were better with ICT. It was a day i felt proud with my lesson.

Teaching on the topic Adaptive characteristics of plants for class VI science through ICT made the children to use  eyes and ears in the lesson. The children has to read as well as discuss in their group.

   
Here are some of the findings i found after teaching using ICT.
1. Students feel eager to see
2. Improves Visual skills
3. Enjoy while learning
4. Use different teaching methods
5. Improves knowledge retention
6. Achieves the objectives


So, the use of ICT in the classroom teaching learning is very important for it provides opportunities for both the teacher and the students to pass the messages.
