SEED DISPERSAL- Power Point Presentation
My second round of Teaching using ICT took on 17th September, 2019 to class six students. And this is my fourth session where i am uploading my reflection on my teaching using ICT.Teaching Science with ICT has got the most advantages to the students as well as to the teachers.
Science is the subject of wonders where sometimes our assumption becomes the solution. That assumption has happened when there are no concrete ideas to show or look at it. But now it isn't because of ICT in the classroom.
Seed dispersal for class six students were taught to them using power point presentation and a short clip was downloaded for them to show. In the session many of the methods of seed dispersal were known to them but the idea of seed dispersal by water and seeds with wings were not known to them, so I could convince them with the video that was uploaded. 
After doing my presentation using power point about seed dispersal, I took my activity back to the classroom where students were given to do the activities. Work done by the students tells me that teaching is not just to be done with books and the chalkboard but works wonders with using ICT gadgets. 
Though the lesson could flow smoothly but still has some flaws due to different places for the conduct presentation and the activities. With the fixed screen and OHP in the office there are no alternative but to do it. So, while doing this, some minutes are wasted while they move from the presentation room to their class for the conduct of the activity. More over it was not possible for me to show them once again and that hampers in the revision on while doing the activity. In general the lesson went well as compared to last year's teaching using the chart paper and the hand made learning materials. Sonam Dorji

Teaching through powerpoint in the classroom has lots of power to attract the students learning and as well as it acts as attention grabber. Therefore, you have done a nice ict tools. Bravo!

Sure sir I too agree that ICT does wonder in the classroom. However, with the lack of facilities like you mentioned ( fixed OHP and screen only in the office), we tend to face difficulties and that is the greatest challenges in the schools. Nevertheless, if our school managers show a bit initiative, then this challenges are also going to get solved. Here in our school, we are very lycky to have a dynamic principal, that we are equipped with smart TV in classes PP- III and a projector each in classes IV- X. So why not suggest your principal sir.
ReplyDeleteThank you madam Gyem Bedha for sharing the information about the furnished ICT facilities in your school. Those teachers and students are the luckiest ones that made difference in modern ways of teaching. We are also now moving towards ICT school and a OHP in the school is the sign of progress. We will come to that stage one day but it's miles to move.

ReplyDeleteIt is good to learn that you have used the powerful ict gadget called power point presentation however you could not show it while doing the activity as you have to shift to the classroom.This is the reality problems in schools and that problems,if somebody could solve it,how wonderful our teaching and learning would be...just thinking over la...

ReplyDeleteI too believed that ICT does wonder in the classroom teaching. All of us felt changes in students learning. As mentioned by author, the problem is with the lack of facilities. The transportation of things, fitting, lending materials from the collegues are some of the challenges we face at the moment. Things may change over time. Let us equip ourselves before things arrive to our schools.

ReplyDeleteThey get clear concept of what they lean and it will be fun, it can be like Play and learn.
ReplyDeleteICT is very handy to use in all the subject but it does best with science from my perspective. When we have access to ICT it makes our teaching and learning very effective as we are able to convince our learner with more information apart from textbook. Besides our science text also has many web link and if we have time and resources its always better to make use of it. It will add colours to our teaching.

The use of projector is really helpful to the teachers, more than half of the works will be done by it. please continue the same.
